Toparlar Waterfall

Toparlar Waterfall (Toparlar Şelalesi) is a small but very picturesque place near Köyceğiz, which is conveniently combined with a trip from Akyaka or Marmaris. It is located within the Köyceğiz district, in the vicinity of the Toparlar neighborhood, along the Muğla–Fethiye highway; a dirt road leads from the highway to the waterfall, followed by a short hiking trail.
From the parking lot to the waterfall, it takes about 10–15 minutes on foot (approximately 700–1000 m) along a forest path beside a stream. The path is not difficult, but rocky, with roots and wet areas in places.
The waterfall itself is not very high — the water cascades down from about 4–6 meters into a natural emerald pool surrounded by rocks and trees. The depth of the pool at the waterfall reaches 2–4 meters in places, and the water remains refreshingly cool even in summer. Swimming is allowed here, and in the heat, it is one of the favorite spots for locals, but it is important to be a good swimmer: the depth and cold water are not suitable for everyone, as warned by signs. Jumping from the rocks is at your own risk.
Toparlar is part of specially protected natural areas; there are no permanent structures at the waterfall itself, only simple infrastructure at the beginning of the trail. In the summer heat, Toparlar Waterfall becomes a cooling point for those who want to swap the hot beach for the shade of trees and a mountain stream. You can also start hiking from the waterfall along a quite long route; you won't miss the signs.

The city beach and most of the coastline in the center are free; you can come with your own towel. There is a paid entrance to the equipped kite beach. Some hotels and restaurants on the shore have their own beach areas with paid sunbeds, but this is not mandatory.
