During World War I, British ships were anchored in this area, which is why the bay is popularly known as "English Harbor." It is the largest bay in the Gökova Gulf, located about 40 km from the center of Akyaka.
There are no buildings or establishments here at all, so you can come and organize your day in nature as you wish — the main thing is to bring everything you need: water, food, a sun umbrella, and everything for swimming. Away from people and infrastructure, this bay offers a rare silence and a sense of seclusion.
The bay is located opposite the island of Kos and belongs to the
Datca Peninsula in the
Gökova Gulf. In the Datca area, the wind usually blows from north to south and can be quite strong, so there may be rough seas here. The waters around have some of the most beautiful bays of the peninsula, and many boat tours in Datca stop here so guests can swim and relax.
You can also reach it by land: from the
Muğla –
Marmaris highway, you need to turn at the Karacasöğüt junction, then follow the paved road, which later turns into a dirt road — it's important to consider your vehicle's passability.
Getting here by sea is also very pleasant, but there is a nuance: not far from the bay is a protected residence, so sometimes access to the bay for private boats may be temporarily closed.
